My daughter's first full sentence . . . "Look! It's our friend chocolate!" She is now 16 and that sentiment accurately reflects her love of chocolate. Her favorite? Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. Yummy!

My youngest daughter's attempt at spelling her name went something like this: "S-t-e-p-h-a-n-dot.com-e." We had just purchased a computer. There was a lot of talk about computer lingo going on. Now, as a high school senior, she knows more than I do about computers.

Actual conversation I had with my ten year old at the dinner table a couple of nights ago:

Mom: Okay, Thomas, after dinner you need to get your homework done. Dinner, homework. Dinner, homework. Dinner, homework. Got it?

Thomas: Dinner, homework, beat Calvin up, right?

Mom: Sure....

Thomas: Really?!?

Mom: Yeah, as long as you’re willing to accept the consequences.

Thomas: Oh, boo hoo. So I lose a kidney. I have two!

My cousin is a first grade teacher. She said that on the first day of school this year a boy in her class began getting ready to go home after lunch. She explained to him that he was in first grade now and had to stay all day, unlike his half day kindergarten. He crossed his arms and muttered "who the h... signed me up for this!"
